College and Career Readiness

In alignment with the goals of the Worcester Public Schools, one of the primary areas of focus for the Worcester Educational Development Foundation is College and Career Readiness.

WEDF facilitates scholarships and awards from donor advised accounts and serves as the fiscal agent for the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program funded by the Hanover Insurance Group Foundation.

AVID – Advancement Via Individual Determination

Many middle and high school students perform in the academic middle, but are capable of higher achievement. The AVID program targets these students and advances them into more rigorous honors and advanced placement courses.

AVID operates in every public high school in Worcester.

The AVID program is supported by the Hanover Insurance Group Foundation.
